Biography

Pasquale Savino graduated in Physics at the University of Pisa in 1980. Since 1983 he  worked in Olivetti at the Pisa Research Laboratory and in 1996 he moved to the Istituto di Elaborazione della Informazione (I.E.I.) of the Italian National Council of Researches (CNR), (now Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell'Informazione (Institute of Information Science and Technology) where he holds a senior researcher position at thethe Multimedia Networked Information Systems Laboratory

The research activities of the laboratory include text retrieval and classification, multimedia information retrieval, Web search engines, cross-lingual information retrieval, storage structures for multimedia information retrieval, formal models of image retrieval, formal methods for database design, digital libraries, and others.
